We know how equally stressful and exciting it can be when preparing holidays for a family! Hence why we have collated a few tips that have helped us personally when our babies have had to sleep in a new and unfamiliar environment 🤞🏻
Strip the sheet AND mattress protector from your baby’s cot and use those when travelling. This way, it doubles as using their existing sheets with their own familiar scent. Additionally, packing their mattress protector will provide additional padding (as we all know how uncomfortable those portacot bases look!). Then, when you return from holidays, your baby already has fresh sheets on their mattress, and the used ones can get thrown straight in the wash! 🧺
Arrange their comforters in the portacot the same way they are in their cot at home, providing your baby with a sense of familiarity and reassurance 🥰
Pack their sleeping bag that they have used the previous night (instead of a freshly washed one) which already has their scent on it 👃🏻
Lastly, incorporate their additional positive sleep associations, such as white noise and blackout blinds. We have found investing in a king or super king black doona cover to be the most effective compared to suction cup blackout blinds. Alternatively, you can use a spray water bottle and stick aluminium foil on the windows for short-term use 😉
